Introduction
This passage hits close to home. Jesus speaks plainly: it’s hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. It’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle. That image alone forces us to pause. The disciples are shocked. If even the wealthy — those who seem to have it all — can’t make it, then who can? Jesus answers: “With man, this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible.”
PART 1: The Children (Verses 13–15)
People bring children to Jesus. The disciples try to stop them. Why? Because, in that culture, children had no status. They weren’t seen as important. But Jesus welcomes them. He blesses them. He honors their trust and humility. He flips the script.
God values what the world often ignores. Come to Him like a child — open, humble, dependent.
PART 2: The Rich Young Man (Verses 16–22)
A rich young man asks Jesus what he must do to gain eternal life. He claims to have followed all the commandments. Jesus looks deeper. “Sell everything. Give to the poor. Then follow me.” The man walks away, sad.
It’s not just about doing good. It’s about letting go. What owns your heart? That’s the real question.
PART 3: The Promise to the Disciples (Verses 23–30)
Peter speaks up. “We’ve left everything for you. What’s in it for us?” Jesus assures them — they’ll be rewarded. Not just in the next life, but in this one too.
God sees your sacrifice. Nothing is wasted. But don’t expect rewards to look the way the world defines them.

Este pasaje nos toca profundamente. Jesús habla con claridad: es difícil que un rico entre en el reino de Dios. Es más fácil que un camello pase por el ojo de una aguja. Esa imagen por sí sola nos hace detenernos a reflexionar. Los discípulos están asombrados. Si ni siquiera los ricos —aquellos que parecen tenerlo todo— pueden entrar, ¿quién podrá hacerlo?
